Amanda Firrincieli is a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor who makes diligent efforts to create a safe space for her clients to openly process vulnerable topics. Her top priority is to utilize her sensitivity and empathy in constructive ways that allow her to both directly and indirectly remind clients that she is just as human as they are. She works hard to build a close alliance with her clients as well as a space that reflects her non-judgmental and transparent approach.

Amanda has experience working primarily with pre-teens, teens, and adults of various backgrounds. Her areas of proficiency include anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, suicidal ideation, trauma, and adjustment problems. Amanda also works with issues around interpersonal conflict and divorce. She makes it a point to stay up-to-date with research through personal reading and trainings to gain further knowledge and certification in order to provide evidence-based treatment. Amanda actively tailors her clinical interventions based on what will benefit each individual. She also incorporates humor appropriately and in a sensitive manner and makes a concerted effort to help her clients feel comfortable.

Amanda works predominantly from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based frameworks. She also has ample training in cognitive processing therapy (CPT), which is an evidence-based treatment approach that targets symptoms of trauma, as well as exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP), which is an evidence-based treatment approach that targets symptoms of anxiety in various anxiety disorders. In her clinical work, Amanda is able to help her clients challenge and restructure their unhelpful beliefs that lead to distress, enhance their communication skills, build self-confidence, and develop healthier coping skills.

Amanda graduated with her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Saint John’s University. Prior to this, she also obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Saint John’s University.
