Psychologist (Limited Permit)

Therapy can often feel like a big step, and even overwhelming at times. Dr. Lamela works to make the process manageable by walking alongside clients every step of the way. He views therapy as a true collaboration—partnering with clients to define what healing and growth mean for them.
In his sessions, he creates a space of unconditional acceptance, meeting each client exactly where they are. From there, he helps them explore how their beliefs, emotions, and behaviors shape daily life. He highlights patterns, points out areas where change is possible, and always invites clients to share what feels true for them. While he brings training and clinical expertise, he emphasizes that each person is the expert on their own life. His role is to support, guide, and empower his clients’ voices in the process.
Whether someone is facing anxiety, depression, stress, anger, grief, relationship challenges, ADHD, trauma, OCD, or questions around gender identity, Dr. Lamela provides compassionate, accepting, and nonjudgmental care. He walks with his clients at a pace that feels right, always keeping compassion and understanding at the heart of the work.
Dr. Lamela earned his first master’s degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from William Paterson University, followed by both master’s and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from St. John’s University. His professional background spans hospitals, private practice, community mental health centers, and primary care offices—experiences that have shaped him into a trusted, well-rounded clinician. With this depth of training and perspective, Dr. Lamela brings both expertise and genuine care to support each client’s mental health journey.
