Alvina Anantram is a New York State licensed mental health counselor who provides a warm, supportive, safe, and culturally-sensitive space for her clients. She empowers her clients on their healing and self-growth journey by truly allowing them to feel heard and accepted. 

Alvina has worked with adolescents and adults from a variety of cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, and races. Her area of expertise is related to anxiety, depression, identity issues, relationship issues, life transitions, self-esteem, co-dependency challenges, social media use, and bullying. She explores and honors the multiple identities of her clients in order to better understand the way they view themselves, their challenges, and the world. Alvina encourages her clients to fully present as their authentic self, unapologetically, as they work together to honor a life that compliments their goals, values, and overall happiness. During sessions, barriers that keep clients feeling inadequate or misunderstood will be explored at their own pace. In doing so, Alvina customizes clinical interventions to meet the needs of each client. 

Alvina is trained in multiple therapeutic approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills, and mindfulness techniques. With these approaches, Alvina provides insight, confronts disordered thinking, while embodying self-love, gratitude, and coping strategies to help clients develop a healthy, resilient life.

Alvina graduated with her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from New York University and has received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from York University in Toronto.
